Calgary Expo 2012 Pin-Up
Every year the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo puts together an artbook with pin-ups from the artist guests attending the show. Seven years, seven artbooks. I'm proud that I've been at every show and created a new piece in every artbook so far.
This year's theme was "Dreams & Wishes" so I sketched up a faerie folk. The idea is that he harvests dream energy from his dreamcatcher and collects the energy into the spiffy key there.

Zub PAX East Head Sketches
PAX East in Boston a couple weeks ago was crazy busy at the UDON booth. So busy that I didn't have a chance to snap photos of most of the stuff I drew for people. Still, here's a handful of the head sketches I did up at the show.
In previous years I've drawn almost exclusively Mega Man characters. It was a fun challenge sketching up all kinds of other stuff, including stuff from Street Fighter, Skullkickers, Zelda, Pokemon, Mass Effect, Marvel and Okami.

This weekend is Emerald City Comicon in Seattle and I'll be exhibiting there as a guest of the show!
Head over to TABLE C-11 for sketches, signatures and copies of my new Skullkickers books and issues.
This pin-up is my contribution to the annual Monsters & Dames artbook. If you buy a copy of the artbook I'll happily autograph it up for you.
Hope to see you there!

A sketch of Shorty completed with ballpoint pen from the Skullkickers Vol. 2 launch party last week. Good times.

Gen Con Sketches
Gen Con 2011 in Indianapolis last weekend went incredibly well. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to check out my Skullkickers comics.
I did some commission sketches while I was there and the variety of requests was pretty impressive.
Someone had a sketchbook with 'knitting' as their theme, so I did a sketch of the dwarf attempting to knit.

Jim's Old Spider-Man Comic
Back in 2008 I posted up two issues of the comics I wrote/drew when I was 11 years old.
For those of you who may have missed them. Here they are:
Liberty League #1
Liberty League #2
Marvel Universe Pin-Up
Spider-Man Pin-Up
My mother found more of my old comic artwork from when I was 13, so I thought I'd scan it in.
Kurt Busiek ripped me off with his series 'Untold Tales of Spider-Man'. I had the exact same comic title 6 years earlier, thank you very much!

Check that dynamic posing and McFarlane-era webbing!

My brother was the inker and letterer.

The goblin chews up the scenery here with his evil. Oh man, I cannot wait to see what happens next...
Oh wait, that's it. I only ever drew 2 pages before we gave up on it. I guess we'll never know how it ends. Noooooooooooooooooo!

Seed Starter - Art For Hope
This sketch image was done with Alias Sketchbook Pro as part of Viz's 'Art For Hope' Japan Charity fund-raising event.

Since I wasn't as familiar with Sketchbook as I am with Photoshop, I went for a simple composition and flat colours. It was a neat program to play with though and I'm looking forward to trying it more in the future.
